Miscellaneous
Formica Counter Tops
Your counter tops are made of Formica for easy care and maintenance. If they are properly taken care of they will look nice for a long time.
Do not put a hot pot or pan etc. on the counter top because it will burn or melt the counter top. Don’t use the counter top as a cutting board; it will mar the top and stains will set in.
Balconies
Your balcony was made for pleasure and enjoyment. The floor of your balcony may be made of wooden slats or concrete. Little maintenance is required of either of them. Please take care when sweeping or cooking on your porch so as not to drop of scatter debris onto the porch below.
Indoor-outdoor carpeting is permitted during the SUMMER MONTHS ONLY. If the carpeting is left throughout the winter, it may cause a leakage problem at the bottom of the door wall and may cause the wooden-slated porches to dry-rot, resulting in repair charges to tenant.
Installing ANY covering above your balcony is not permitted because it contributes to leak problems.
Ceramic Tile
There is very little care in keeping the ceramic tile in your bathroom clean and attractive. Do not use abrasives; wash with warm water and mild detergent. To clean between the tiles use a mild cleansing powder and a brush. Tiles should be cleaned with tile cleaner each month.
Carpeting
If a carpet is vacuumed and taken care of properly as is stated in your lease, you will be sure to get the best service out of it.
If someone has dropped or spilled, be sure to have necessary cleaning equipment handy, such as rags or a sponge and a mild soap to stains from developing.
Fire Prevention
In case of a fire, call the fire department first, then our maintenance department. Keep the fire department number handy at all times.
We know you are aware it would be very costly both to yourself and us if there were a fire, so for this reason, we hope you will be very careful. You must also take into consideration that there are other people living in the same building that you are, and you are endangering their lives if you are careless with fire.
There is a way you can prevent some fires from happening. Be careful with matches and make sure defective electrical cords, wires and appliances are taken care of immediately. Do not let soiled papers and rags accumulate.
We must also insist that you keep the basements and halls free of all personal items. You have storage area in your basement for these things. Each apartment is provided with a fire extinguisher in the front closet.
We strongly recommend you obtain renters’ insurance to cover your belongings and liability.
